[Filler/Aside] Facts about Postgraduate Life, Visualized.

Prologue: With the dust settled on nomination day (6 April), it's obvious that this coming election will be one of the most hotly contested election in the political history of Sarawak: a staggering 213 candidates vying for ALL of 71 State Assembly's seats, breaking down into BN 71 (PBB 35 + SUPP 19 + PRS 9 + SPDP 8), PR 69 (PKR 49 + DAP 15 + PAS 5. Apparent N38 Jemoreng and N41 Pakan were not contested by PR for some reason), SNAP 26, PCM 6 and 41 Independent candidates thus making multi-cornered contest unavoidable. It's the forth day of campaigning and the heat is definitely ON with candidates and their faithfuls follower canvassing the electorates in sending their message and ideology. Besides that, the cyberspace is engulfed in the flame of war between the cybertroopers and die-hard acolytes of all folds spreading all sort of contents including vapid disinformation and attacks. The polarization of opinions into personal attacks is the thing that really left me alienated from the whole event. Maturity of voters even on cyberspace are definitely still too far away. My good Tauke, Mr. Kho has really come up with compelling arguments for maturity in democracy's and voters education in light with the upcoming election and I urged all voters whether you're a Sarawakian or not, to read it and be enlightened. Last but not least, useful links for those who want to keep tab with the latest information about the election: MKini's Undi.info, Department of Information/Penerangan's Media Centre, and (for those who want to pick bones) Election Irregularities Report by Komas. Interesting time ahead but don't let the heat get you!

This is a filler post, ya know. Prolonged stagnation of mind due to severe procrastination can really hurt one's ability to create meaningful content and articulate ideas in a comprehensible manners. As a desperate to keep my blog alive, I am resorting to posting fillers in between occasional meaningful and slice of life post. This post filler content however, is very de-ja-vu-esque to be ignored. So here you go, a few facts about postgraduate life, visualized in a manner that is easy to be digested by all minds.

funny graphs - Whatever, a Graduate Degree in Children's Literature is Totally Useful
I would say all of the above. Don't ya know reality is a very scary place for budding young adults? With rising uncertainties in life (quarter life crisis), the relatively comfortable cloister of academia (despite being mind grinding from time to time) are even more tempting than ever. Sad fact but pretty true.

While it is a cold, hard fact that research/academia with its grueling peer-review process is definitely not easy street,  funding are equally hard to come by when universities are directing their funding towards research in science and technology in which its patent will certainly bring profit and glory to the institution hence drying up funds for the liberal arts, the very money that is keeping alive grasping abstract ideas. The injustice!

funny graphs - You Can Always Leave at the Break
Protips for all freshies. Though I think it's better not to skip class though even if it's boring Gen. Ed/university wide course like TITAS and SHE because they're stepping up the control of attendance with small class arrangement!
