Prologue: *sigh* My brain and soul is in stasis now. So little motivation to lift my finger and brain to actually do anything productive such as tidy up my blog or doing assignments which already came rolling down the hill. In other words, I am in a slump. *sigh*
It has been slow days in reality with little or no exciting breaking news with a few exception such as the release of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia’s result, this time using a new grading system and a Kuchingite named the top student of the nation. (Woohoo!! Even though she is from Green Road. And congratulation for my younger bro Omega Zachary Efron Tate Zince LYH for scoring above-average result. Wish you great success in any of your future endeavor, Tate. And it’s your turn to drive me around since you obtained your driving license!), MCA leadership crisis deepened with various backdoor maneuvering and switch of allegiance happening behind the scene and incumbent President Ong TK in a pinch, multiple Pakatan Rakyat MPs (specifically PKR over dissatisfaction of leadership and personal vendetta etc) jumping ship to become independent MPs hence making the upcoming sitting of Dewan Rakyat slightly interesting and thus making party loyalty and personal freedom of opinion coming head to head again. Last but not least of course, our very own Singaporean version of Tiger Wood-esque multiple exposure sensational scandalous affair of once-celebrated but now embattled actor-director Jack Neo (woot!!!!). The entertainment section of the every single mainstream newspapers are having a field day reporting every single details regarding every single affair that he allegedly had, recording every single scathing and embarassing testimonial of every woman he allegedly had affair with (there is an interesting trend about male celebrities’ scandal: when one affair/scandal is exposed, a series of expose will follow suit where out of nowhere one by one, another victim appeared accusing the particular male celebrities and the whole scandal snowballed into a huge furore which strikes on national senses of moral and ethics of celebrities…and fellow media is making a huge sensation bags of money out of it.) and reaches the climax when he made a 10 minute press conference to address his scandal, complete of collapsing wife out of pressure from limelight type of drama. And many people still refuse to let him go and remain cynical about it even after numerous apologies. OH, MAN! We bunch of irrational DICKS.
Anyway, asides from occasional dramas, it is still considered as a slow days in reality. What about mine then? Here’s some random (and rather belated) updates of my life, starting after CNY…
23 February 2010 (Tuesday)
Went to Redbox to do a little recreational Karaoke-ing, pretty much still in the hangover of CNY holiday.
In which for once, Birdie Chuah opened her mouth and started singing! This picture does not show it though cos she sensed my camera.
And Fishy XiangYi is a good singer, specializing in high pitch song. lol.
3 March 2010 (Wednesday)
Went to Bukit Jambul to survey about the price and types of masquerade mask that we can wear for our upcoming course night in early April. After surveying, we decided we need to do yet another recreational activities, in terms of bowling and pool, both my first time virgin experience!
Lunch at Kenny Roger’s: our table is divided in Chocolate Muffin gang…
Fellow bowlers @ Bukit Jambul Bowl. They have quite a good deal for student price during early evening (2-5) and all of us played two games. Fellow first timers include me, Birdie Chuah, Ah Han. Seasoned player: Lawrence Wong Siew Fai.
Me, in my fat-assed pinkish glory.
Birdie Chuah and her cleavage glory.
Lawrence in his pro pose glory.
The left screen is me and Lawrence’s lane, the right screen is AhHan’s, AhPheng’s and Birdie’s screen. I think me as a first timer is not too shabby: at least I managed to strike twice in all games even though there are a lot of instances the ball just entered the gutter. One thing about BJ Bowl though: I think the sensor that calculates the pin is a little over sensitive towards the vibration and sometimes one pin is counted even though in actual my ball entered the gutter and didn’t hit any pin. LOL.
Next, is pool. My in my ready to hit the white ball glory and two fellow photobombers behind. Pool photo courtesy of Lawrence mobile phone’s camera because my camera is finally out of juice after the bowling session.
Camwhore with mobile phone session with so many photobombers in action! Total photobombers: 3. The hand belongs to AhPheng lol.
5 March 2010 (Friday)
Went for a movie marathon with fellow movie goers. Watched Big Soldier, Little Soldier (Jackie Chan’s character died of tragic death in the end despite being hopeful of settling down in peace *sob* and nuance between the two prince in the movie (younger bro being jealous and in the end died for his brother played by LeeHom) feels…Yaoi-esque *Mousou Machine activated.) and 72租客, overly starstudded HongKie’s CNY feel good and pure ridiculousness movie. After movie, came back to USM in time to watch USM’s CNY celebration (despite the fact the actual CNY celebration has already ended a week ago).
Went to Secret Recipe for lunch plus teatime. Cakes galore for teatime because they have promotion!
Dinner: Taiwanese Cuisine at XianDingWei 鲜定味. What do you want to eat?
and the guys. The food was fabulous as well btw and check out my Facebook photo album for more pictures of it.
The launching of CNY night. KohTsuKoon was here.
The turnout was not too shabby! Typical CNY celebration types of celebration expected such as drum performance, Chinese orchestra, different types of lion/tiger/etc dance, Szechuan change face opera, daredevil qigong and fire breathing show etc. Besides the show, they have plenty of booth over there showcasing various paraphernalia of Chinese culture. For more pic, visit my Facebook.
In which I walked back alone to my hostel at Tekun from tapak convo because it’s way pass 11pm. *sigh*
6 and 7 March 2010 (Saturday and Sunday)
Went for 2 day 1 night Bengkel Penggubalan Parlimen Mahasiswa organized by Student Affair and Development Division, USM where student leaders from various societies and clubs in USM are gathered to outline the details in the upcoming Student Parliament.
Bengkel Penggubalan Parlimen Mahasiswa.
We were sequestered at Hydro Hotel Penang over Miami Beach/Batu F’ghi! *woot!*
For two days, we were showered in abundance to the point that I am feeling like a effing elitist bourgeois, sequestered away in sun and sea oblivious to fellow proletariats misery…just for two days tho. Here’s for the first day…
Complete with Honey Star in milk. Ohh the bourgeoisie life style.
And last day’s lunch. Ohh la la.
And of course, not a chance to lose to camwhore! That’s ChengFai and Syahmi, my fellow roommates for these two days and fellow Humanities people.
Wackiness in bathroom is a must!
My verdict for the outcome after two days of bengkel-ing: satisfactory but it could have been done better. A lots of stuff has been outlined in this bengkel regarding various aspects and procedures in the student parliament (for example, my group is outlining the duties and power of the Speaker of Student Parliament) and we were given various resources as eferences such as the actual Malaysian Parliament Standing Order (Legalese is deliberately designed to look and sound confusing for the laymen thus giving lawyers and judge a (lucrative) job in deciphering and intepreting the law. Hmph.). Downsides: we are NOT suppose to add in any extra stuff outside the latest University and University College Act (AUKU/UUCA) hence our suggestion of electing a non-parliamentarian as Speaker is shot down because it is clearly stated in the Act that the Speaker of Student Parliament must be elected from members of the chamber. Another big issue here is regarding representation of MPDs. societies and clubs in the chamber: membership of the societies/clubs/MPDs slate MUST NOT EXCEED half of the Student Representative Councils (SRC) membership (currently standing at 39 which makes the possible membership for clubs/societies cannot exceed 19 people). In other word, the clubs and societies in USM will remain subordinate in the power of decision making and in fact, it is clearly stated that Student Parliament are not designed to replace or overpower the SRC in decision making hence render the idea of more open student representation in decision making useless. Why bother to invite all of us (Clubs/societies presidents) to the bengkel if our representation will remain minor in decision making. I voiced out my frustration to Prof Shad Saleem Faruqi, renowned Malaysia legal experts from UiTM, he said fine but the furthest the representation can go is 51/49% as SRC claimed to be representative of ALL student in campus. As soon as Prof Shad left, the discussion moves on with the issue being cast aside to concentrate on issue at hand. *sigh* In the end, I am still somewhat frustrated but I am thankful of given the chance to be involved in such important occasion (perks of being the president, I guess) and I hope that the lawmaker and decision make can actually accept our suggestions in the implementation of Student Parliament in the future. Should I join Postgraduate Society in the future when I come back as a Post-grad? Hmmm…
Other miscellaneous stuff before I sign out for the day:
After prolonged drought, finally Penang is seeing rainy days again. In fact, the weather has been really nice these few days with lots of clouds and occasional torrential downpour which makes good sleep!
Even the cat over Istimewa feels lazy and sleepy. Are we looking at better days ahead?
Epilogue: Priority FAIL. Spent hours blogging (hence almost whole morning gone) instead of making actual progress in assignments. Just two more major one to go. Ohh the task at hand is too daunting! Now my hand are shaking already.

I find it awesome that you can still find the time to keep up with current affairs - where do you get your information from?
Ever since it became hard to find newspapers (campus = no newspaper subscription), I've found it hard to keep up with (mostly depressing) Malaysian news.
Usually I will buy newspapers (The Star mostly but in rare occasion, SinChew if I feel like reading Chinese) every two or three days so it is still good enough to keep myself updated about pretty much everything. And then of course, there's the wondrous INTERNET!
I am sure you can pick up newspaper in residential colleges cafe...right? Cos that's where I got mine during weekdays.
