Prologue: The title's pretty shite, innit? Just can't find an S-letter word relevant to my current situation to put into the title to maintain the title's stylistic integrity. Meanwhile, only the second post of the month and it's already the final week of August. This shows how much steam (or lack of it) left in my writing juice. Anyway, here's some content to keep you non-existent readership glued to my long-forlorn personalized internet presence interface.
Greeting from Batu Ferengghi!

| Obligatory picture of sand, sea, leisure-goers. Not much of a sun though because the haze is sort of making a comeback even when the weather can be cloudy and rainy. |

| Lazyboys Budget Guesthouse will be my anchor for the next four days and three nights. Tucked away in a small alley and just a stone throw away from the main road, this cozy guesthouse offer budget accommodation with shared public bathrooms and wi-fi connection with the only downside being having no plugpoints within room itself (!) making a trip to the common area compulsory you need additional electricity. Oh well, I only need to pay RM100 for three nights which is already way cheaper than staying a single night over five star hotels. |
 |
| ...and the purpose for staying three nights over Batu Ferengghi is this. Came a day earlier because I am travelling on my own ergo RapidPenang involving a bus transfer over Komtar hopping on a crowded 101 bus with a heavy wheeliebag. Oh not too long after I took this picture, I was gently escorted out of the hotel because technically I am not supposed to be there yet plus probably I looked dodgy (still in my khaki and jersey with laptop bag. Totally dodgy.) and not well-dressed enough for a five star hotel. Then again, he's just doing his job and it was my mistake for not reading the conference schedule ahead to check the early registration time (5-7pm? Nope I will go tomorrow then. I need my dinner.) |
What's coming up for the next three days and two nights? Shuffling from one parallel session to another in order to catch papers relevant to interest, pigging out during lunch over their ever scrumptious lunch buffet spread and oh, I am scheduled to present a paper (Day 2) and CHAIR a parallel session simultaneously because it's the duty the first presenter for a parallel session and I am. Dang nabbit.
Stay tuned for sporadic updates from time to time once I get a place with plugpoint to sit down. Preferably with food. Now signing off from McDonald Batu Ferengghi, the thing that wasn't around when I was here the last time during the halcyon days.
