Continuation from the previous post. After spending two nights in Taiping exploring the environ, it is almost time for us to say good bye to the cool air of Taiping and head back NORTH to our next destination of our graduation trip. And oh btw, for more photo, remember to check out (besides my own Facebook) SzeSze’s Facebook profile! I am still waiting for the rest of her DSLR pic to be uploaded to Facebook so that I can grab it and put it in my blog!
Wake up sleepyheads! From left: ChiaMin, YenPheng and Lawrence.
Me snuggin too.
Our breakfast: paus and buns and leftover cake.
A snippet of our breakfast time antic courtesy of SzeSze’s DSLR. lol Lawrence.
Still in time to check on Facebook using SzeSze’s laptop. Can’t live without it!
Packin’ up and thinkin where to stuff our stuff especially taking into consideration of the amount of souvenir we bought back!
Before we bid farewell to Taiping and embark on another journey, one more group photo in front of SzeSze’s home.
With Mr and Mrs Chuah, our gracious host that provide us with warm hospitality for the past 2 days. Thank you all so much!
An observation of Taiping buses: It is as old as Kuching bus, they use mostly Hino buses and their naming scheme is pretty smart and memorable related to their actual colour scheme: Red Omnibus, Blue Omnibus and Red & Yellow Omnibus.
Once we exited the toll plaza…
We are on our way again up NORTH.
Selamat Tuhan Kurniakan, Selamat Pulau Pinang!
Our first rest stop for the day is at Butterworth.
We dropped by this stall somewhere in Butterworth, famous for its yam rice and pork soup.
Yam rice with chunks of yam there.
Salty pork soup with all sorts of pork stuff in it. Pork intestine, pork live, pork meat, pork balls, pork stomach etc etc. And the base of the soup is made of preserved vegetables so its salty, soury taste is very appetizing.
Just to recall who’s who, from left: Ah Wei, SheiHan, SzeSze.
And yours truly.
Time to hit the road again.
Drop by XinMi’s house at Sungai Petani for yet another rest stop and for XinMi to drop off some of her luggage. This is the landmark in Sungai Petani, the Coronation Clock Tower.
After hanging around (watching Nodame Cantabile Live Action Drama Paris-hen on 8tv over XinMi’s house), its time to hit the road again…
At first we were thinking of visiting Dr. Mahathir’s birthplace…
But we were a tad bit too late and it’s close. Pfft. Then we moved on to another destination.
Street view of Alor Setar with Alor Setar tower in the background. That’s where we are heading now.
Went past Balai Nobat.
And here we are, Alor Setar Tower.
View while inside the bubble lift.
Observation periscope.
Istana Kuning just around the corner.
A comparison of other towers of the world.
The view on our way down.
The sun is setting slowly…
Dropped by Istana Anak Bukit, Kedah Sultan’s Palace just to take some photo of it.
The huge, regal front gate.
Weird decorative lamp post thing in front of Istana Anak Bukit. After a short stop here, we head further north to Jitra, SheiHan’s home for dinner!
In which SzeSze was immediately enamored by SheiHan’s pet dog!
Dinner: Steamboat and Kerabu. Scrumptious!
Our junior, Kok offered us his home in Changlun for us to stay over for the night so after a short spin around ChangLun in the dark searching for petrol station and SheiHan’s drama with her BF (personally at first, I don’t like the fact that her BF came over to stay over for the night. What is he scared of anyway? But later, it’s pretty meh once you think further about it) here and there, we finally settled down and ready for yet another exploration around the Northern region.
A relatively short post for now. Next post: Up to the border and Final instalment of the GRADUATION TRIP. Stay tuned!
