Within 18 hours(7:10pm flight), I will be boarding AirAsia *YESSS spanking new A320* flying across the 'pond' that seperates the island of Borneo, from the catcity to Kuching to the Metropolitan heart of Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur. Main reason for it: AIESEC Malaysia NLDS in UM, on the 3rd to 9th of Dec in Universiti Malaya, and then after that 14th of Dec, the start of my new semester in USM on the pearl of orient, Penang.
It had been a wonderful, fun and exciting two weeks here back in Kuching. Went out with my friend back in form six year a couple of times. One of the highlight of it will be trip to UNIMAS, YangLip and SanHui's alma mater. I tell you, UNIMAS is damn HUGE and SPANKINGLY NEW. Chancellory Building looks ultramodern, a couple of super huge water tower, scenic view of the manmade lake, Bowling alley(!) and an upcoming golf course...super nice lar!!!! Not to mention their hostel also spanking new. My friend, YangLip's hostel is basically like an mini apartment, 4 bedroom, two bathroom and complete with small kitchenette and living room. Another thing, most of the hostel are unoccupied since it was just build. The room of another friend of mine, SanHui is the only room inhabited on the WHOLE FLOOR. Kinda eerie until YangLip keep on making fun of her hostel haunted. (BTW, teasing SanHui to no end was also the main event of every outing. I will never forget how she was tricked into watching 30 days of night by telling her its Beowulf that's on. SHE IS SCARED TO DEATH ROFLMAO In the end we did watch Beowulf though.)
Another trip worth mentioned is excursion to Matang Wildlife Centre. It was planned rather hastily on the particular day before the UNIMAS trip complete with multiple change of planned destination and all so dizzy shopping trip to Choice Supermart. We even make plan to take out KFC there which in the end, didn't.(We compensate it with a trip to KFC MJC) We went through the animal pen there(people taking photograph of animal, YangLip take photo of people taking photograph...thats mr photographer for you!! I am his assistant along this trip.) and eat snack(Pringles! Mr. Potato! Root Beer!!!) in the middle of *perhaps inhabited with croc* stream. I didn't and I can't get wet because i did not bring extra clothes along. Pity. *sigh* Either way, due to shortage of fuel in YangLip's car, we have to cancel the extra excursion to beaches of Lundu and head back to town earlier. Little do i know, this cancelled trip to Lundu's beach will prove to be a shocker and half blessing for me and the rest of us...
Later in the evening, my friends' from U6s2, TzeSiew's (YangLip and Owen's classmate) younger brother was drowned in Lundu's beach due to high tides and waves on that day. They went too far beyond the coastline during the low tide and so when the hightide came, they have little chance to escape... I went to the funeral with my parent(my mom is her mom's former colleague back in General Hospital). Its is indeed a very sad event for their family and when i was there TzeSiew was indeed visibly tired. Her friend SiawFern, JiaLin came earlier and we did have a little chitchatting even though it is kinda hard to hide away our grieves in this sad event. It also makes me wonder how fragile human life is and how powerful is the nature. My mom, who has been the daughter of sea(living in fishing kampung) keep on reminding me on not goin out during low tides because they came with enourmous power that can swept away people, engulfing them in dangerous trap of seawater. My deepest condolences to TzeSiew and her family. May her family have enough strength to face the terrible ordeal...
I think this is all for today. My two week stay in Kuching is indeed full of changes in which concludes with a rather shocking event. But now, its time for me for looking forward into the unknown but probably exciting incoming weeks, across Peninsula in the big Kay-Elle and subsequently, one whole new semester and experience, on Penang Island...

ps2: My flight has been delayed to 8:50pm...well, that's AirAsia for all of us and I am fine with it as long as i can spend more time in front of my computer...
