Prologue: So many thing to do. So little time. First round of FYP translation work is finally done so now can take a lil breather before the 2nd round commence. The little time I spent in front of computer (and my timeslot with no interruption is usually around midnight after everyone is sleeping) definitely didn’t help much with my work and online habit. Meanwhile, looking forward for more outing with the Kuching Gang before the semester start…and all of us can already feel the heat of next semester’s battle!
Attention fellow USM-ers! The online course registration is now opened! Login to your HealthyCampus (USM student portal) account, go under application and click E-Daftar to commence course registration. Just type in your course code (for example HBT307 with no spacing.), select the correct course unit code (T = Teras/Core, M = Minor, E = Elective, U = University paper, Z = Audit) and click daftar. The system will remain open until 27 December and until then you can add/edit/delete your registered courses. Please be aware while doing registration by typing in the correct course and course code (refer to your course guideline!) and print a copy for yourself after you are sure that all of it are correct for future reference and to avoid unneeded hassle in the future. Especially for final year student, makesure all your personal details in your profile are correct especially your minor as well as units taken to make sure that no shit will happen before you graduate!
Now that the public service announcement’s done, let’s have a look of what I registered for my final semester in USM. *oh dear, just one more semester until graduation!?)
And here’s how E-Daftar looks like. Fellow USM-ers, done with your registration already?
Here’s the full list:
1.) HBT305 – Translation Project. (4 units)
All graduating final year student must take it and produce a translation product whether is it a book, a movie, an advert or an article. And as you can see from my previous post, I am already doing it, even during holiday!]
2.) HBT306E - Computer Aided Translation: Theory and Strategy (4 units)
This is the only time that we will bump into Dr. Wan Rose as a teaching lecturer as well as Puan Jumiya. Hmm, I thought Puan Jumiya is from the Comp Science school?
3.) HBT307 – Simultaneous Intepreting (4 units)
Dr. Leelany is back and let’s see whether all the exercise we did with Dr Noni and Tuan Haji paid off. The most rigorous, advance level in all the three interpreting course before, this time will definitely have much more hands on training in the intepretation lab, working inside an actual simulation booth!
4.) LHP456 - Spoken English (2 units)
The last LHP paper that we need to take as core, heard from my friends who took it earlier that it’s mostly about presentation and discussion and speaking up. Hmm, wonder, wonder.
5.) LHP 458 – English for Translation (2 units)
I took this as my U paper for my English as being a MUET band 5 student, I am 2 unit short of fulfilling my 4 units of English U paper. So, it’s back to seeing Dr. Tengku Sepora again and might be in the same class with lots of BATI junior. She’s a charming lady.
So total amount of unit taken: 16 units. One unit up from my first semester. Most of my peer will be taking 14 only though so it might be slightly more stressful compared to the rest of them.
As for timetable:
Oh, let there be no class in the evening and on Friday! *fingers crossed*
Those colored yellow are the confirmed majors’ lectures timeslot. So far so good. The blue ones are for LHP456 taking in all the 3 possible grouping to be in. Currently I am in group one but kinda thinking of joining group 3 to make my Tuesday empty. Then again, there are at least 9 more hours to be filled in consisted of 6 hours of tutorial and language lab (for interpreting class) timeslot while 3 more are from LHP458 which I can only know when is it when the semester open. Still, hope for at least maintaining an reasonably empty and manageable timetable for my final semester! *fingers crossed and pray hard*
Epilogue: Let’s see how many outing can I do before the holiday ends! And ohh need to plan a trip for the Kuching gang as well! The bus spotting trip, remember. Hope can come up with an itineraries soon…Expect more blogpost in the future!
