Mid-Sem Break Excursion (Part S!)

Prologue: Deadlines, deadlines and more deadlines before and after Raya. Looks like a roller coaster ride all the way to the end...

Whew! A blogpost waaaaaaaayyyyyyy long due. So many thing to do yet so little time hence the delay. But nevertheless, let's continue the Mid-sem Break Excusion (Part S)!!! (This whole post corresponds to Ms Chong's take on our excursion, paragraph 3-6. Ohh, some picture courtesy of Lawrence)

Leaving YenPheng's house at Shah Alam early in the morning for breakfast before heading to Sunway Lagoon. And as you can see from here, ShahAlam is predominantly made of Industrial Zone like this factory over here. (Well actually, we all woke up at least half and hour late than the intended time because we are still quite exhausted from our trip down from Genting last night. Sorry to YenPheng's parent for waiting for us to get ready.)

A plate of wantan mee from YenPheng's family favorite stall at the market for breakfast. Look at the luscious Roasted Pork meat with all the cruchy fat~~ And YenPheng's parent ordered two bowls of YongTaufu Soup for us as well to complement our breakfast. A huge thanks to YenPheng's family for belanja-ing us for our breakfast.

A little camwhore at some random bus stop near the market somewhere in ShahAlam. lolx.

And soon we are on our way to Sunway Lagoon passing through the highway. Around 15 minutes later, we are here at the doorstep of Sunway Pyramid.

A lil further walk down along the side of Sunway Pyramid and there it is, Sunway Lagoon Theme Park. And as you can see, crowds are slowly building up despite that the fact that Sunway Lagoon will only open around 9:30 or 10 like that. SheiHan and XinMi came later on by themselves.

Look the crowd waiting for the counter to open. While the counter staff haven't start working yet, the ground staff/promoter is in action by promoting their theme package for the value of money.

The famous Sunway Duck Mascot.

Of course, whenever there is a cute theme park mascot involved, picture taking ensues. This is AhBui's...

Ms Chan and Ms Chong...

All the girls: AhBui, Ms Chan, Akaka ChiaMin and Ms Chong.

And all of us.

Opening Cowboy and Cowgirl Dance show by the Theme Park Staff.

Our package: All Theme Park Package (RM 72 for Malaysian) and comes with waterproof wristband that looks more like a watch. But ohh, the purchase of tickets is not without hitches though cos the counter staff misheard of what we want and gave us the two park package and only...and chase us away because the next customer is coming in?! WTF. We approached the ground staff and he is scrambling around to sort it out. Luckily the problem is sorted and so we entered the park...

It was quite a long way doooowwwnnn from the entrance to the theme park area complete with three flights of escalator descending the slope. And so we walk and walk...

The rows of souvenir shops and other miscellanous stuff that greeted us at the base of the long trip down.

And then there were another monkey mascot and hula girls posing over there so yet another obligatory group pictures.

Before we head into the theme park, it's important that we settle down our bags first and went over to the changing room to change into something more comfortable just in case that we will get wet and/or sweaty with all the walking. So we went to the locker area and settle down our bags. Each locker is operated with token and each token worth RM5. Geez. And multiple use locker is even more expensive.

Another obligatory group picture after we changed before we head in for more fun at all the theme park.

Just a shot before boarding the Pirate's Revenge.

The first ride -The Pirate's Revenge. One of the most scariest ride that I ever seen because it actually goes 360 degree spin and stop upside down. This one heck of a pirate ship ride makes the one at Genting seems very tame. And they really give attention to the safety aspects and require everyone to fill up the seat from middle first. But even when seated in the middle, I think I will scare the shit out so I definitely have to opt out along with Lawrence and SheiHan and ChiaMin. XinMi, YenPheng and AhBui are feeling adventurous however so they went on for the ride.

And so it swing here and swing back with greater oscillation until the spin one full 360 degrees...

...and more 360 degree swing.

...and it stop in midair then came down again. Just by imagining myself in the ride is enough to make me feel dizzy.

One ride down. As we walk on to another attraction, there is this on large enclosure and there was two tiger inside, lazing around in the the rather cool air under the shade of the huge over head bridge above. The big cat woke up from time to time and walk around to find a comfortable spot to laze around.

The next attraction that we intend to go: The Scream Park.

All of us waiting patiently to enter the Scream Park. And true to its name, the Scream Park is indeed scream inducing. Even before entering, the staff over there said to us: "Do not take picture, Please remove your glasses, Do not panic. Do not run. Don't touch the ghost. They won't touch you if you don't touch them." It was divided into 3 sections with different theme: Haunted Castle, Prison Break and The Night at the Museum. But all of them share the same feature: pitch black darkness with minimal lighting/flashes in the case of prison break just enough to let us see the path way and the ghosts. Seriously, the scream park over is definitely many times scarier than other ordinary fairground ghost house. The ghost come really close to use and breath beside your ear. They hide in corner and pounce on us unsuspectingly. At the Prison Break area, there is one staff that hold a chainsaw prop complete with air blowing out. (come to think of it, I think it was a hairblower modified into the prop.) And there is another one with plays with our senses and optical illusion just by wearing a 3d glasses. All the illumination on the wall looks like as if it is coming out from the way and there is one tunnel that looks like spinning (which in fact, isn't) but we will feel wobbly and dizzy due to the 3d and optical illusion effect enhanced by the 3D glasses. One thing though: I think those ghost deliberately choose to scare the girls more than guys even when me and Lawrence switch to the front of the group. They want to create more scream as if it wasn't scary enough already.

As we came out from the thrill at Scream Park, those two tigers actually woke up and walk around the enclosure, prompting me (and all other tourist to take pictures!)

And inside that enclosure there is a waterfall descending down so of course, yet another obligatory group photo. But soon, it started to rain and some of the park's attraction is closed...

But all of us are still keen to make the best out of it even in rain so we move on to the next attraction available: The Animal Park. And right over the Small animal/Pet exhibit, we were greeted by Parrot and Parakeets and Cuckatoos.

Another shot at the cuckatoos/parrots/parakeets. One of them actually started to do the high pitch...sound/chirp/(whats the exact term for parrot's voice? Croaking?) when we are done with that part of exhibit persistently like an annoying alarm clock.

Meet Snowy, the naughty albino monkey that decided to take a chew on SheiHan's bracelet until we need help from the warden there to retrieve it back. lol ickiness covered in monkey saliva.

There were other small primates and animals in cages as well such as this mamoset.

Another shot at the mamoset.

Mongoose if I am not mistaken.

Canadian Prairie Dogs. Other animal which I forgot to take pictures include a pairs of Guinea Pigs (its huge!) that shares a pen with...a Golden-stripe thing Tortoise. Weird pen-mates. There were geckos and iguanas and small reptilian exhibit as well over there. We moved on to the open air exhibits...in rain.

First outdoor enclosure: The Malayan Deer. And it shared the enclosure with...ostriches. Again, weird enclosure-mate.

Obligatory picture taking ensues. AhBui and SheiHan.

Ms Bee, trying to imaginary air pinch the buttock of a Malayan Deer.

Right beside the Malayan deer exhibit is the Sun Bear exhibits. That particular sun bear seems very anxious and move around the enclosure. There is one point though that was scratching it's back by rubbing at the pole...and it was such an amusing sight to see lolx. There were other open air enclosures as well like aviary and the butterfly park but I guess all the butterflies and birds were kept indoor somewhere/hidden due to rain. OK, next attraction~~

We moved back up again to check for more parks so the first attraction that come to us is the Apache Pots or the spinning cup fairground ride. And there is only 6 of us during the ride so all of us occupy one pot per person! And so we spin around~~~ That was AhBui over there...

Ms Chan...

...and SheiHan trying to pose. lol All picture comes out blur.

By the time we are done with the Apache Pot, the rain stopped for right enough time for us to try the next attraction: The Tomahawk. Suddenly out of no where, I am feeling adventurous so I go on it as well to have a little taste of thrill. (XinMi, SheiHan, YenPheng and AhBui went on as well while Lawrence and ChiaMin opt out).

And here comes the spin~~~~ It was scary not just because it stops in mid air outside down and spins but all because that the safety harness/belt thing as well as the cage looks pretty flimsy that I might just fly off from that thing if they ever come off especially since I am seating right in front. As soon as we came off from the ride, the rain is back again so back into the shelter...

-No picture at this point due to wetness and rain-

In intermittent rain, we moved on to another attraction: The Wild Wild West part. Fun points: The Vulture Ride where we ride up and down and spin around, Butch Cassidy Trail which is basically boots going round and round REALLY fast on track with bumps, Grand Canyon River Rapid in which YenPheng, ChiaMin and SheiHan got themselves a surprise drench of water because we distracted them by calling their names. (Lawrence, AhBui, XinMi and me got on the first ride), Buffalo Coaster when the rain stopped long enough. (All of us went on twice), The Colorado Splash which is a really long and fast slide down and the high light of the day: The Niagara Falls Plume Ride, complete with two fall and splashs with one in the tunnel (This is the time that we got wet because the splash hits the tunnel wall...and fall back on us while the 2nd one is from the mouth of a giant python. It was so much fun that we had it TWICE because there isn't many people waiting and even when it started to rain by switching partner on the ride. We are all drenched but fun.

We are done with all the ride at Wild-Wild west zone so we moved on to get a little refreshment and clear our bladder lol. Highlight: the loud scream and slam of door in the ladies room. It was ChiaMin as someone opened her toilet door (it was broken I heard) while she was doing her stuff. Totally funny and shocking at the same time.

-Picture resumes-

It was around noon time so we decided to settle down for a little snack. The price of the food sold however was totally blood-suckingly ridiculous and totally doesn't worth its value. The price: RM7 for a simple chicken burger with cheese. And its not McD quality. Here's a shot of the burgers and the sauce packet.

Another shot of all of us holding the burger.

-No picture beyond this point again due to wetness and rain-

Next attraction: the Extreme Park which we ride All Terrain Vehicle. We were given a shower cap besides from the safety equipment because the helmet was shared one round over the other and the amount of germ and sweat will be...unimaginable. It was pretty fun maneuvering through the muddy part and climbing uphill on the ATV. There's a lil incident though in which the 3 Australian bloke who came later than us were given to ride first even though we were in front. I was quite dissatisfied with it...until they came back not too long later. Apparently they went on full speed extreme ride and two rounds were done pretty fast. Oh well.

Next we moved on to the lake for a swan ride and kayak. Because my coordination sucks and I might be spinning round going nowhere, I opt for the boring swan boat ride while XinMi and SheiHan was again feeling adventurous and tried the kayak. We go around the lake quite far until the warden there blow their horn to call of us to come back. While rowing back though, we saw the staircase adjacent to the lake that we saw at the animal park. That's when I discover that we are sharing the lake with the huge Arowana aka Amazon River Monster. I shudder at the thought that I fall off the boat into the lake.

After that, all of us meet up and we move on to the tower connecting suspension bridge as well as the flying fox. The girls was very excited on going Flying foxing down to do beach from the tower but I chickened out when I saw the height from the tower looking down. While the girls moved on for flying fox, me and Lawrence decided to walk across the suspension bridge to meet them at the base when they glide down.

A shot looking up the suspension bridge.

A shot of all the group looking at people gliding down by flying fox.

A group pictures.

As the girls moved on to flying fox, we took care of their bag and belonging and walk across the suspension bridge. Please, remind me again not to do so cos it was made of wooden plank despite being enforced by steel bar and it shakes with every step and the safety harness was bare enough for me to look down from the top.

While the girls already glide down to the beach, me and Lawrence were still on the way travelling down the stairs to go down to the park area. Then we suddenly realize: where are we suppose to meet up? We thought we might see them at the beach but when we reach there, we see no one. We went around to check their whereabout and we can't call them by cellphone because all their phones are with us. So we walk back to the beach again and scour around for them. Then at another end of the beach, there's them, sliding down from the slide into the beach. HEY, HOW COULD YOU ALL START PLAYING WITHOUT US! To be frank, I was pretty pissed at that moment as it was already 5pm and the park is closing around 6:30...and we haven't even got on the real attraction of Sunway Lagoon: The waterpark! So without wasting anymore time, we moved on for the water slides! We moved on to another beach with wave and got ourselves drench by the pouring bucket thing before we go on to the Africa Python Slide (tunnel and curvy slides) and Cameroon (sliding straight down) ride for at least five or 6 times switching partners here and there to savour all the fun that we can get before the park closes. The highlight for myself: I almost fall off face first into the water when I try to get out from the float. Soon its around 6 already so its about time that we call it a day and move on to retrieve our bags to get the clothes to change.

A group shot before we head on for more wet!

So we went out from the Sunway Lagoon and we suddenly feel a small pang of hunger. We decided that we should have a little snack before going home so we moved on to Sunway Pyramid which is adjacent to Sunway Lagoon. And right there, we saw a J.CO Donut. The taste of guiltily sweet taste of donut melting in our mouth proved to be too tantalizing for all of us so we moved for a little donut quickie indulgence at J.Co!

Lo, and behold, the legendary J.CO Donut.

We opened the treasure trove of donuts and revealing all the sweet goodness waiting for us.

Look at all the tantalizing array of donuts, waiting for us to chow down. Want a bite?

And not before long, we are all done! And, they provides small cups of sample for cappucino but we keeps on go back again and again for more to quench our thirst while enjoying the guilty pleasure of a donuts. In the ends, it ends up as a stack which I think should be enough to form one full cappucino already haha!

Showing off our souvenir of the day: Sunway Watch by exchanging our wristband (which btw, deposited for RM 10) with it. I got myself a blue one!

Over and all, it was a day well spent despite of rain. Definitely yet another great moment in our uni life that we will continue to cherish for the rest of our life. Hope all of us can do that again! Last but not least, a group picture before we leave the park.

We head out again to the same place we were dropped this morning to go back to YenPheng's home by YenPheng's dad's Rusa. We went straight to dinner and boy it was such a feast...

-And that's all for now. The Mid-sem Break Excursion series of post will end soon with the next post: Mid-Sem Break Excursion (Part SH and B2Pen!!!) -

Epilogue: And another post done! Achievement of the day. Wait, what about my assignment in which the deadline is nextweek!
