Let it be...

-Prologue-

Thanks to
Serena for introducing this movie/musical, Across the Universe as well as the songs inside the movie to me. Even though I haven't watch this movie and musical yet but trust me, ladies and gentlemen its going to be excellent. This post however, is written on what I saw and feel by this watching the video below, so please bear my brain rambling for this one post, kay?

Let it be-The Beatles

When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree,
there will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see,
there will be an answer. let it be.

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light, that shines on me,
shine until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

The song featured which is Let it be by The Beatles itself was a very moving song but when I listened to the powerful rendition as well as the accompanying footage in the video posted immediately I WAS TOUCHED. I choked up and tears up every time I watch this scene. Kudos for everyone involved in Across the Universe to produced such invigorating, thought-provoking emotional moving scene and arranging this magnificent rendition of Let it be.

The footage starts with two national servicemen(army) came over to inform a woman the death of her son. The mother, obviously saddened and shaken by this horrific news, collapsed to the floor. Immediately the scene switch to havoc and chaos, with looting of property and gunshot. A short glimpse that shows a wrecked Detroit Police Car (plus personal understanding that the background of the movie itself, which happens in the sixties.) obviously refers to the 12th Street Riot in July 23rd 1967 in Detroit, Michigan, one of the worst civil unrest that ever occured before in United States. Then there is a boy, sitting behind a burned car, singing Let it be. His amazing voice juxtaposed itself to all the riot in the background, creating a very powerful image of its own. After all the riots comes two funeral service, one is for the National servicemen that died in service and another one for that boy HIMSELF. Accompanying and connecting these two scene together is again Let it be, now performed by a group of gospel singers in church. The lead singer's voice is so powerful and full of emotion capturing the all the emotion in these scene so aptly. The whole thing ends with family members of each victim, contemplating about the whole incident with obvious sign of grief...

In the end, what did I see?

Racism
Riot
Discrimination
Violence
Inequality
Civil Unrest
Law enforcement
Human Rights

then I see,

Two victims

Two funerals

Two families

Two different communities

Two different ethnic and social background

but in the end, I see,

THE SAME EMOTION.

THE VERY SAME GRIEF THAT CAME FROM THE LOST OF OUR LOVED ONE.

We are all different, but one way or the other, we are the SAME.

We are all HUMAN after all.

Sometimes, we as human tend to involved and being all riled up by some petty issues and differences, caught ourselves engulfed by mounting confrontation and conflicts that we tend to forget more pressing things that we should pay more attention of...

Sometimes, it would have been better if we can just let go of our differences, our grudge, our anger, our irrationality, our conflicts, our barriers.

Sometimes, it would have been BETTER for all of us...

...if we CAN just...

...LET IT BE...

-Epilogue-

One thing that I really need to mention here is that I personally DO NOT SUPPORT leaving BAD THING or STATUS QUO (as in let it be and remain apathetic about it) as it is just for the sake of fragile stability. But harmony between different individuals can be achieved by letting go personal vendetta and difference in order to achieve common good and peaceful coexistence, as highlighted above. And NO, this post does not contain any political message but there are pressing social issues that worth to be highlighted.
